STATE OF FLORIDA ISSUES - DeSANTIS RE-OPENS FLORIDA
Gov. Ron DeSantis opens Florida
On May 3, 2021, Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an executive order stating "...the State of Florida will favor a presumption of commercial operation and individual liberty with no toleration for unending and unjustified impediments to that liberty." The order specified in light of recently enacted reforms, the widespread vaccination of Florida residents, and the sufficient supply of vaccines for all eligible Florida residents, ...it is necessary for the State of Florida to enhance its rapid and orderly restoration and recovery from the COVID-19 emergency by preempting and suspending all remaining local emergency restrictions on individuals and businesses and to return day-to-day life back to normal everywhere in the State.
At a special call virtual meeting May 13, the Islamorada village council discussed the governor's executive order and re-opening meetings to the public. This week's meetings are open to the public. Masks are encouraged and seating will be limited. If you plan to attend meetings in-person, go early!
